Town of Westville to File for Intervenor Status as New Glasgow Seeks an Increase in Water Rates

Jan 28, 2026 | Local News

The town of Westville will file for intervenor status as the Town of New Glasgow has filed a new water rate study with the Nova Scotia Regulatory & Appeals Board. New Glasgow has submitted a study that would raise water rates through the 2028-2029 fiscal years.

As the town purchases all of its water from New Glasgow, Mayor Lennie White said that any increase in the wholesale rate would have to be passed onto customers in Westville. White encouraged all citizens to see the application documents on the Board’s website, nserbt.ca. Citizens can also apply to the Board for standing at the water rate hearings planned later this year. A printed copy can be obtained through the Westville town office.
