Two Antigonish County Councillors defeated in Saturday’s Election

Antigonish County Council saw a pair of incumbents fall in the municipal election.

In District 2, incumbent Donnie MacDonald and his 377 votes defeated challenger Kristel Fleuren-Hunter, who received 223 votes.

In District 4, Shawn Brophy`s 276 votes helped him narrowly defeat incumbent Vaughn Chisholm, with 268 votes.

In District 9, Harris McNamara, with 442 votes, got by incumbent Neil Corbett, with 170 votes, and Carol MacEachen, with 44 votes.

Marry MacLellan, Hughie Stewart, Remi Deveau, Owen McCarron, John Dunbar, Gary Mattie, and Bill MacFarlane are all acclaimed as council members while Alfred M Benoit is acclaimed as the CSAP school board member.
