A spokesperson for the Department of Public Works stated demolition work at the former Skye Motel in Port Hastings is underway. The work began over the winter with the abatement of regulated materials. The department expects the demolition work at the site will wrap up by the end of June. The demolition for the former Causeway Inn, also known as the Travel Lodge, is scheduled to finish late this summer . Dexter Construction is doing the Skye Motel demolition, and IQ Environmental is handling the Causeway Inn/Travel Lodge demo.

The surplus land will be used for future projects. The province purchased the properties last year.
