Two Men Found Not Guilty of Sexual Assault in Antigonish Court Case

Nov 29, 2019 | Local News

Two men facing sexual assault charges were acquitted in Antigonish Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Jonah Williams and Tyler Ball each faced one charge of sexual assault in a case that led to a nine-day trial, which wrapped up on October 31. Both were charged following an alleged incident on the StFX campus in 2017.

Crown Attorney Courtney MacNeil said the Crown presented its evidence fairly and completely in the case but the judge did not believe they proved the offence beyond a reasonable doubt.

MacNeil said the crown will take the time to review the judge’s decision before determining if an appeal is appropriate.
