May 8, 2020 | Local News

With just one new case of covid 19 announced Friday, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Robert Strang said the province still has a robust testing regimine and reminded people to get tested if they have two or more of the covid symptoms.

While Strang thanked all of Nova Scotia’s moms in the lead up to Mother’s Day on Sunday, he also said people still have to adhere to social distancing regulations. While it’s usually a time for people to get together and celebrate, this Mother’s day can’t be celebrated like years past.

With the weather continuing to brighten, Strang said it is important go get outdoors for mental and physical health but again encouraged people to give each other the appropriate space, maintain good personal hygiene and avoid touching your face.

Strang said it is essential for residents to continue to take the appropriate step steps necessary to slow the spread of covid 19.

The Department of Health and Wellness is reporting two more covid 19 related deaths in Nova Scotia, bringing the provincial total to 44. The deaths occurred at the Northwood long-term care home in Halifax Regional Municipality.

The province also announced one new positive case of covid 19, bringing that total to 1,008.
