The RCMP’s Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit charged two men with offences related to child sexual abuse and exploitation material (or CSAEM) and seized ten firearms after a search warrant execution.
In April, the Nova Scotia RCMP Provincial Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation after receiving information from an electronic service provider indicating that CSAEM was being transmitted on its application. The transmissions were associated to an address in Mulgrave.
On May 27, the Internet Child Exploitation Unit and RCMP Digital Forensic Services executed a search warrant at a residence in the 0-100 block of Tower Road in Mulgrave. During the search, officers seized electronic evidence, unsecured firearms, and ammunition.
38-year-old William John Winchester Simpson of Mulgrave, faces two counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material and two counts of Transmission of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material .
48-year-old Joseph Harris Simpson of Mulgrave, faces one charge of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material and one charge of Unsafe Storage of Firearms .
Both men were released on conditions pending a first court appearance scheduled for July 27 at Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
