Two New Cases of COVID-19 in the Province

There are two new cases of COVID-19 in the province. One case is in the Western Zone, the other is in Eastern Zone. Both are related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada. The new case in Eastern Zone has been confirmed to be at the Eskasoni First Nation by the community’s Chief Leroy Denny.   Public Health is working closely with Chief Denny to manage the case. Contact tracing is underway, there’s no evidence of community spread.

The number of actives cases of the virus continues to fall. There are now 46 active cases, down from 50 on Friday.

Premier Stephen McNeil says although the cases are down, COVID-19 is still here in the province and Nova Scotians have to continue efforts to slow its spread.

Nova Scotia Health Authority’s labs completed 1, 111 Nova Scotia tests on Friday.
