Pictou County District RCMP has charged a woman and a man after two taxis were stolen from a business in Antigonish.
On January 23 at approximately 3 p.m., Inverness County District RCMP located one of the Dodge Caravan taxis, with the investigation into this theft continuing.
Later that day, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Pictou County District RCMP received a report that the other taxi was spotted in Stellarton. This tip led officers to locating the van and arresting a woman and a man.
The 31-year-old woman of Isaacs Harbour and 45-year-old man of Antigonish each face a charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. Both were released on undertakings and will appear in Pictou Provincial Court on March 30.
Both taxis had minor damage. At this time, police have no information suggesting the taxis were used, or attempted to be used, to illegally pick up passengers or collect fares. In addition, the thefts appear to not be connected.
