Antigonish RCMP arrested two youths in relation to incidents in the area.
Just after midnight on October 1, officers observed two riders on an ATV driving recklessly in the town, including on sidewalks. Officers tried to make a traffic stop but the riders fled the area. Around two hours later, RCMP responded to a report of a break-in in St. Andrews. Officers learned two people arrived on an ATV, broke a window, and stole liquor from the store before fleeing.
As part of an investigation, police learned the two incidents involved the same suspects.
On October 6, RCMP arrested the driver of the ATV, a 17-year-old from Antigonish. The driver, who was released on conditions, faces charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance, break and enter, mischief, and offences under the off-highway act. On October 11, RCMP arrested the passenger, a 14-year-old from Antigonish, who was also released on conditions, and faces charges of break and enter, mischief, and theft under $5,000.
Both youths will appear in court at a later date.
