A pair of youths face assault charges following an incident at Dr. JH Gillis Regional High School in Antigonish 
Wednesday morning.
A release from the RCMP states police responded to call of an altercation bettween two youths and another youth at the school at around 10:46 a.m.. The victim, a male, was assaulted by two other males and the victim sustained minor injuries.
Police arrested both suspects, aged 14 and 17 from Antigonish, before releasing them on conditions to not contact the victim. Both face assault charges and are set to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on February 5.
A letter sent home to parents stated the incident led to a “Hold and Secure” in the building as part of its Emergency Management Plan. The “Hold and Secure” lasted about 15 minutes and normal routine resumed.
The school says the measure was taken to deal with a behavioural incident involving students. As a precaution, 911 was contacted and RCMP responded to the school.
