If you live in the provincial riding of Pictou West, you will receive a Voter Information Card in the mail this week. It will give you an update on the upcoming by-election on May 21st, including where and when to vote. Each registered voter will receive a VIC.
Eligible voters without a VIC can vote in this by-election. A voter can be added to the Nova Scotia registry of electors when they vote with an ID, or they can take an oath to attest to their eligibility. If there are errors on the VIC, you can bring with it with you when you vote and have the information updated.
To be eligible to vote, you must be 18 years of age or older on election day, a Canadian citizen, reside in Pictou West and have lived in Nova Scotia six months before the writ of election was issued.
If you have questions about the by-election, call the returning office at 1-888-575-8901.
