Another local event has been cancelled because of COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time in its
history, the 22nd annual Christmas Parade of Lights in Westville, scheduled for December 5th will not be held this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings for public events.
history, the 22nd annual Christmas Parade of Lights in Westville, scheduled for December 5th will not be held this year due to COVID-19 restrictions on large gatherings for public events.Chairperson and Deputy Fire Chief Tom Steele says their team is disappointed because it brings much cheer to the local area and has been growing larger and more popular every year. Steele says they looked at all options to try and make it work, including consultations with the province’s Chief Medical Health Officer Dr. Robert Strang, but the alternatives provided would have made it extremely difficult.
However, Westville Fire and Rescue will still be escorting Santa around the town on Christmas Eve as they have in past years.
The 23rd annual Christmas Parade of Lights is scheduled for December 4th, 2021.
