New Glasgow Regional Police lay Assault and Drug-Related Charges

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a man in connection with an assault with a weapon that occurred on MacLean Street in New Glasgow.

Police were called to the scene at 2:30 Wednesday morning after receiving a report of someone screaming for help. Police found a 46-year-old woman at a MacLean Street home who had been assaulted with Bear-Spray by a man who immediately fled the area.

Officers, with assistance from the Pictou Integrated Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit searched the home and charged the 46-year-old Pictou County woman with Possession of Methamphetamine and Hydromorphone for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Police later arrested a 47-year-old Pictou County man on Marsh Street in the town and charged him with Assault with a Weapon, Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order, and Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking. He has been held in custody and will be appearing in Provincial Court this morning
