The Antigonish Arena will have ice this winter.

During a meeting this week, the Antigonish Arena Association voted to resume operations at the arena. Antigonish County Warden Owen McCarron said ice will be ready by October 1 and staff are already making preparations.
As of October 1, up to 50 people will be able to participate in a sporting event, and up to 200 spectators are allowed with social distancing. McCarron said this will allow minor hockey programs to start up. From all accounts, said McCarron, everyone is anxious to get going.
The warden called it a relief, noting folks look forward to minor hockey and junior hockey season opening, calling it a part of the community’s culture.
