Antigonish Town Council has agreed to support a recreation project at the Antigonish Golf 
course this winter for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.
course this winter for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing.The Antigonish Hiking, Biking and Trails Association and Ski Antigonish are purchasing cross-country ski grooming equipment. Other partners in the project are the St. FX Education department and the Antigonish Town and County Recreation departments. The recreation programs with the Town and County have a winter equipment loan program where they make snow shoes and cross-country skis available. Antigonish Town Council has committed $5,000 to the project
Mayor Laurie Boucher says supporting this project fits in nicely with the kind of recreation programs residents are looking for.
Antigonish County Council will consider supporting this project at a meeting in January. Municipal support can assist the volunteer groups in leveraging funding from other sources.
