A pair of local groups are getting support for solar projects.
The Solar for Community Buildings Program announced the successful applicants for the
program this year. On the list are the Bayside Development Corporation owned by the Paqtnkek First Nation Community and the Municipality of the County of Antigonish.
Another 24 applicants received help through the program, aimed at helping support community participation in renewable energy and learning how solar can help the province continue its clean energy transition. The program enables community organizations to generate up to 75kw of solar electricity and sell it to a local utility under a 20 year contract.
Following the announcement, the Municipality of the County of Antigonish tweeted they will be constructing a 72 kw 290 panel solar PV installation in 2020 as part of the program and congratulated the other recipients
