Local Elections featured five Mayoralty Races

There were several local Mayoral races in last night’s Municipal elections. Brenda Chisholm-

Beaton was re-elected Port Hawkesbury’s Mayor, beating challenger Archie MacLachlan. The new mayor of Mulgrave is Ron Chisholm who served on council the past four years, defeating former mayor Lorne MacDonald. Ralph Hadley did not re-offer as Mayor.

Nancy Dicks was re-elected New Glasgow’s Mayor, defeating Mark Firth. Danny MacGillivray was re-elected Mayor of Stellarton, beating out Darren Stroud. In Trenton, Donald Hussher, a councillor last term defeated incumbent Shannon MacInnis in a tight vote.

Three other local mayors were re-elected by acclamation,
Laurie Boucher in Antigonish, Westville’s Lennie White and Jim Ryan in Pictou.
