A local student is seeing the impacts of the Coronavirus first hand. Mark MacDonald of St.
Mountains Northern Italy
Andrews, a grade 11 student is in Northern Italy during this school year. The country is currently in lockdown as health officials attempt to contain the spread of the virus.
MacDonald and the family he’s living with left last weekend for the mountains in Ziano di Fiemme. Now they can’t return home because of quarantines that were imposed in the past week.
MacDonald says as part of the quarantine, residents can’t cross provincial borders unless is it urgent.
However, MacDonald says under the circumstances, in the mountains is a good place to be. He says it’s less condensed, houses are further apart and there’s a significantly lower number of cases of the virus.
