Friday afternoon, StFX women’s rugby coach, Mike Cavanagh, reached the century mark after his team took down the UPEI Panthers 73-5 in the season opener. The victory was the 100th AUS regular season win for Cavanagh who now holds an incredible 100-3-2 record in confernece regular season play over the past 20 years.

In Football, Led by fourth year running back Dale Wright (Markham, ON) who scored three touchdowns, the Acadia Axemen defeated the StFX X-Men 54-19 Friday evening at StFX Stadium.
The win improved the Axemen to 2-0 on the season, tied with Saint Mary’s atop the AUS standings. The X-Men drop to 1-2.

The StFX X-Men Soccer squad started the AUS season on a winning note, defeating the UPEI Panthers 2-0 Friday afternoon at StFX Stadium.
Dan Hayfield (Exeter, UK) scored in the opening minute of the second half and Blake Fenton (Halifax, NS) scored in the final minute of the game in the StFX win.
The StFX X-Women opened the AUS season with a 2-0 shutout victory over the UPEI Panthers. Both X-Women goals came in the second half of play.

It could be Canadian tennis history in the making this afternoon, as Bianca Andreescu takes on legendary Serena Williams in the U-S Open women’s final this afternoon.
The 19-year-old from Mississauga, Ontario is the first Canadian to ever reach the singles final.
Tennis Canada is holding viewing parties in Toronto and Montreal, while sports bars nationwide will host less official gatherings.
