The Nova Scotia Health Authority is developing a Whistleblower Policy. A proposal was presented for disucussion as the authority’s board of directors met in Antigonish yesterday. The NSHA’s Vice President of People and Organizational Development, Carmel d’Entremont says several of the former District Health Authorities had similar policies in place, and now it’s working on a province-wide plan.
She says it’s an avenue for people primarily in the organization to report what they believe to be significant wrongdoing, to have it investigated, while providing protection.
d’Entremont says most whistleblower policies would have several options to report, such as to a supervisor and a disclosure line. d’Entremont says the board has asked for several revisions.
