RCMP Charge Motorist with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Baddeck-Wagmatcook Area

May 29, 2020 | Local News

Victoria District RCMP say they have charged a 30-year-old man from River Denys following a series of driving incidents on Sunday.
Police say around 8 o’clock Sunday evening, an RCMP officer spotted a red Volkswagen Jetta on Highway 105 in Baddeck, driving on the highway shoulder then swerved sharply and partially crossed the centre line.  The officer attempted to pull the driver over, but RCMP say the motorist didn’t comply.  The officer was able to get the license plate number and alerted other RCMP members in the area.
About 15 minutes later, police received a 911 call that a red sedan was driving at a high rate of speed in Wagmatcook.  The car wasn’t located by police, but an eyewitness description of the car and driver was similar  to the earlier incident.
Police later arrested Andrew Grant MacPhail of River Denys and charged him with Dangerous Operation  of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police and Driving While Suspended.  He’s been released and is scheduled to appear in Wagmatcook Provincial Court on September 9th.
