Community Sport Development Coordinator Stephanie Spencer of Antigonish says their motto is simple and unwavering: We want all kids to reach their potential through sport by enjoying the positive benefits of a quality, first experience. Sport Nova Scotia recently issued their Ricoh Sport Awards. Antigonish Multisport is a co-recipient of the “The Sport Makes A Difference Award.“ The Antigonish Multisport Pilot is the first of its kind in Canada. Spencer says this is what community sport is all about: children developing multiple skills and abilities that will prepare them to feel confident to tackle any challenge, as well as having the competence and motivation to help them achieve success in its many forms. She says not only does this approach help better the individual athlete, but the entire community benefits from children who are healthy, happy and active for life.
