Antigonish Street Fair

The Mayor of Antigonish never doubted the national pride of her town, and a recent recognition strengthened that belief. During the Antigonish Street Fair, a large Canada 150 banner was painted on Main Street, and was recognized as being the largest created nation wide.
Mayor Laurie Boucher says the street fair was a great success this year, which helped increase community pride around the 150 banner. She says it was great to be honoured.
Overall, Boucher says she was extremely pleased with all the events that happened in July, including Canada Day, the Street Fair and the Highland Games.

The Antigonish Street Fair is moving ahead with concepts to make this the biggest year yet. At last evening’s Town Council meeting, a presentation was given by Jamie MacDonald to show what stage the group is at, and ask for a larger area of the downtown to be closed to traffic.

The request came because of expansion of the fair, which will now feature a car show located at the Ultramar on Main Street. Mayor Laurie Boucher says the growth of this event is exciting to see:

MacDonald asked council to have a street closure between Hawthorne and Church Street during the fair to accommodate the expected 100 vendors who plan to take part in the event.
