Renovations for a ball field in Trenton are getting some help from the federal government.  Central Nova MP Sean Fraser has announced the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency is providing 67-thousand dollars towards the upgrade at Scotia Park.  The total cost of the improvements, which includes new lighting and fencing is 135-thousand dollars.
The ball field opened in 1971.  It has been used regularly by schools, recreation programs, tournaments, private and annual events.

A community hall in Stellarton has received a Canada Day gift from the federal government. It was announced today that more than 15 thousand dollars is going towards upgrades at the Stellarton Fire Hall and Community Hall.
The 30 thousand dollar project, will see the oil fired furnace replaced with a propane furnace. MP for Central Nova, Sean Fraser was on hand for the announcement and says that: “It is encouraging to see the federal government make investments in these facilities to ensure they are properly maintained so they can serve the next generation.”
The municipality is also contributing 15 thousand to the upgrades. The project is partly funded through the Canada 150 Community Infastructure Program.

Sherbrooke Opportunities Society is getting some help from the federal government.

Central Nova MP Sean Fraser was in Sherbrooke on Saturday to announce that the Atlantic Canada Opportunities agency will provide$66,745 to Sherbrooke Opportunities Society or S.H.O.P.S.  S.H.O.P.S. will match that contribution, which will complete the last phase of the Memorial Place project and construction is in the works.

Memorial Place is the new wing attached to St. Mary’s Education Centre and Academy that houses a room for Kids First and another that will provide a homebase/workshop for the developmentally challenged adults of the community and surrounding area. It will also serve as a memorial to past educators and veterans.
