An Antigonish County native and a former star on the Canadian Paralympic swimming team has moved from the pool to become a strong advocate for sport. Chelsey Gotell, a 12 time Paralympic medalist has been elected chair of the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Athlete’s Council. As chair, Gotell also has a seat on the Canadian Paralympic Committee.
Gotell says her move to the administrative side of the sport has been gradual.
Gotell assumes her new role as chair in April. Gotell is familiar with the workings of the Athlete’s Council; she’s been vice chair since 2014. The 31-year-old is also a student at Canadian Academy of Osteopathy.
