An Antigonish brother-sister team makes their home town and province proud competing at the national level.  Hugh Mc Carron of the Royals Football Teams has recently returned from the nationals in Winnipeg where he was a member of the provincial under-18 team.    Team Nova Scotia lost to Manitoba in the fifth place game.  Mc Carron has two seasons left on the grid-iron for the Royals as he enters grade 11 at Dr. JH Gillis Regional High School.

His sister Sarah recently returned from Toronto, where she was a member of the Nova Scotia Women’s U-20 Rugby squad.  They earned a bronze medal.  She’s also among the few Antigonish natives to be selected to play for the X-women rugby team.  This will be her first year.

Her team was the first from the province to ever claim a medal at the national event, and the first team ever from Nova Scotia to beat British Columbia.

The other Royals named to the Division Three All-star Team are: Zack Mac Intyre, Codey Mac Donald, Matt Forbes, Hugh McCarron, Kyle Pitts, Luke Kell, Dallas Hall and Ryan Gillis.
