This is National Police Week, a celebration that’s taken place in Canada since the 70’s.
With the goal being to promote a positive police presence within the community, the week is designed to open the conversation between officers and the people they protect.
Cst. Morgan MacPherson is the Antigonish RCMP community policing officer. He wants children especially to feel comfortable seeking help from officers and says spending time in schools is the best way to create that relationship.
Events will take place across the country all week long and Cst. MacPherson encourages people to contact their local dispatch for more information on what’s happening in their area.
