Boston. There will be a virtual tree lighting this evening in Boston for the 45-foot White Spruce Christmas tree, donated by a local couple, Heather and Tony Sampson of Dundee. The tree was cut several weeks ago on a lot in Grand Anse, Richmond County.

The tree lighting ceremony at Boston Common will take place at 8 o’clock Atlantic time.

The Tree for Boston is the annual gift Nova Scotia sends to Boston to thank the city for sending aid after the Halifax Explosion in 1917. The province has dedicated this tree to health-care workers to honour both Boston’s response to the Halifax Explosion and those working on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
